    Journal Writing Prompt: Dangerous Choices

    June 3rd, 2007

“I am who I choose to be. I always have been what I chose…though not always what I pleased.”

    ~Lois McMaster Bujold

Today’s quote really struck me when I found it.  Mostly, this is because it’s a topic that I recently discussed with a close friend, but, it’s quite profound - and that, in and of itself, qualifies it for a prompt.

In your journal, consider today’s quote.  Do you agree or disagree?  What do you think the author means by the quote?  Take it a step further….do you see your life as a series of choices that you’ve made?

Write about it in your journal - taking time to really explore ideas & thoughts that “jump out at you” when you consider today’s quote (journal writing tip:  jot down ideas/thoughts on a piece of scratch paper and then develop each in your journal entry).

Journal writing prompt bonus:  I want you to consider the choices you’ve made in your life.  Retrospectively, have you always been pleased by your choices?  If not, what can you do to change that in the future? (let’s face it - we will always make some choices that, in retrospect, were poor - however, we can work towards making fewer of those!)   Do you feel that you are making the choices or someone else is “forcing” you to make the choices?  If you feel like the choices are out of your control, write about that - how can you change that?

    Happy Journaling!
