Daily Journal Writing Prompt: Belief & Unbelief

By Dee · Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

“Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit.”

~E. E. Cummings

Today’s prompt is simple and complex at the same time.  I hope that you will really consider today’s quote and then spend some time in your journal with the prompts.

E. E. Cummings brings up a pretty good point today, in my opinion.  Once you believe in yourself, a whole world is opened up to you.  So, the obvious question is:

Do you believe in yourself?

Write about that in your journal.  Are you only a “partial believer” - believing in yourself in some situations and not others?  Or, do you believe in yourself wholeheartedly?  If you do, did you ever have a time in your life when you didn’t believe in yourself?  What caused the change?

Daily Journal Writing Prompt Bonus:  The next question arising from today’s quote is whether you think that believing in yourself really does open up new possibilities?  Why is it that you can experience so much more if you believe in yourself?

Happy Journaling!
