Journal Writing Prompt: Do you believe?

By Dee · Saturday, October 14th, 2006

“Nobody will believe in you unless you believe in yourself.”

~Liberace

I often talk to people who desperately want others to believe in them, while I will talk with others who are confident that people believe in them.  The biggest difference that I’ve found in these two groups of people is succintly expressed in today’s quote.

So, today’s journal writing prompt is actually twofold:  Do you agree or disagree with today’s quote?  Is it possible for others to believe in you without you first believing in yourself?  Do you  believe in yourself?  Why or why not?
Journal writing prompt bonus:  As you know, this is where I urge you to go below the surface and dig deep.  Today is no exception.  From experience, I have seen that most people who truly believe in themselves and are able to compel others, are people who have a much deeper connection spiritually.  There are, of course, frauds who can convince others to believe in themselves with no spiritual connect, but, I’m talking about a genuine belief in oneself.  If you believe in yourself, where does that belief come from?  And, if you don’t, ponder why that could be the case.  Write about this in your journal.

Happy journaling!
