Journal Writing Prompt: Forgiveness

By Dee · Sunday, January 1st, 2006

“Forgiveness is almost a selfish act because of its immense benefits to the one who forgives.” ~Lawana Blackwell

Have you ever noticed how terrific it feels to forgive someone - I mean, truly forgive them? I know that sometimes it’s really difficult to forgive, but, even in that situation, the act of forgiving someone is such a gift to both of you. In your journal, write about how you have experienced forgiveness - both from the point of the one who is being forgiven and from the point of the one who is forgiving.

Daily Journal Writing Prompt Bonus: Take some time to think about the people you know or have known who need your forgiveness. In your journal, write down their names, and then, one by one, forgive each. Yes, it’s selfish (according to our quote today), but, do this with a pure heart, and enjoy the weight that has been lifted in your life through this simple act of forgiveness.

Happy Journaling!
