Journal Writing Prompt: Give & Take

“Blessed are those who can give without remembering, and take without forgetting.”

~Princess Elizabeth Asquith Bibesco

In today’s quote, we are compelled to take a look at ourselves to see how we are living.  Giving without remembering and taking without forgetting blesses us not only spiritually, but, also, blesses our general health & wellness - mentally, spiritually, and physically.  I’ve talked to people who can’t seem to get past how wonderful they were to give something to someone in need, who now hold onto that one good deed like a life saver - and don’t ever let the other person forget it.  I’ve also talked to people who take & take & take without any thankfulness or memory of what they have received (always expecting more).

So, today’s question is:  Do you give without remembering and take without forgetting?  If so, how do you feel that has benefited you personally.  How did it benefit those around you?  If not, I want you to take a hard look at why not.  Write about this in your journal.

Daily Journal writing prompt bonus:  There is something that seems ultimately free-ing when we give without remembering and take without forgetting.  It puts us in a more humble state of mind, and also keeps us keenly aware of how blessed we are.  Answer the following in your journal:  What can you do today, next week, next month, etc to make sure that you are following this simple little guideline in your own life?  Make sure to look at it as an immediate and ongoing action.

Happy Journaling!
