Journal Writing Prompt: Independence
“We allow our ignorance to prevail upon us and make us think we can survive alone, alone in patches, alone in groups, alone in races, even alone in genders.”
~Maya Angelou
In your journal, write about today’s quote. Do you agree or disagree? Why? Also, consider this, if you agree, is it truly ignorance that separates us and makes us believe that we must be “independent” from everyone else? Or is it something deeper? Is it (possibly) a cultural lie that we buy into? Is that the same as ignorance? Different?
Daily journal writing prompt bonus: Do you find your life fuller and richer when you are a part of a group - leaning on another (and allowing others to lean on you), helping others (and, of course, allowing them to help you)? Or, are you determined to be “independent”? Explain.
Happy Journaling!
(Are you wondering why journaling is important? Wondering why most of our prompts are “deep”? Pull up a chair, grab a cup of coffee (organic, of course) or tea and check out my new piece on the art of journaling)
