Journal Writing Prompt: Keeping it Real

By Dee · Wednesday, September 21st, 2005

“Unless your heart, your soul, and your whole being are behind every decision you make, the words from your mouth will be empty, and each action will be meaningless.”

~Anonymous

In your journal, consider today’s quote. Can you think of a time in your life when the decision you made was half-hearted or compelled by a desire to please everyone else, rather than because your whole being was behind the decision? How did that feel? How often do you think of that time? How did the situation based on that decision turn out?

Journal Writing Prompt Bonus: Sometimes, it can be really tough to say no, and fight the temptation to make a decision on the opinions of other people, other than what your whole being is crying out for you to do. How can you fight that temptation? Does knowing that you will not be able to please everyone all the time help that decision? How can you effectively, yet gently, say “no” to others, instead of bending to the effects of “peer pressure”?

Happy Journaling!
