Journal Writing Prompt: Life views

In your journal, explore your outlook on life. Would you define your outlook on life as that of a cynic or an optimist? What about your friends and family, how would they define your outlook? Now, think about your outlook in light of today’s quote….do you agree or disagree with the author?
Journal writing prompt bonus: I think that all of us, at one point or another, may look at a situation from a cynical viewpoint - no matter how much of a die-hard optimist we are at heart. And, I also believe sometimes we do so more because of the influences around us than our true inner beliefs. If you think about it, the evening news is often times much more cynical than what is necessary or merited. Think of a situation that you have viewed from a cynic’s eyes…write about that situation in your journal. If you haven’t ever experienced a situation that you viewed from a cynic’s eyes, then, find an example in the evening news. Then, in light of today’s quote, explore the real reasons for that cynical view of the situation. Do you think there is truth in the author’s opinion on cynicism? Why or why not?
