Journal Writing Prompt: Persistence

By Dee · Monday, October 23rd, 2006

“We are made to persist. That’s how we find out who we are.”

~ Tobias Wolff

In your journal, consider today’s quote.  Do you agree that we are made to persist?  Do you think that persistence helps you find out  who you are?  Wgy or why not?
Journal writing prompt bonus:  Think back to a time when you persisted despite “everyone” telling you that it was useless and you should give up.  Write about this time, and consider this - did that instance of persistence tell you something about who you are?  What did it tell you?  How has that knowledge of yourself helped you since that time?

If you have had a time in your life when you didn’t persist (and possibly wish you would have), what did that tell you about yourself?  How did that knowledge change your actions now?
Happy Journaling!
