Journal Writing Prompt: Silence
“Not merely an absence of noise, Real Silence begins when a reasonable being withdraws from the noise in order to find peace and order in his inner sanctuary.”
~Peter Minard
In our busy, noisy lives, one thing that we seem to lack is real silence. Even when we try to relax, our brains seem to be zooming at the speed of light - regurgitating our never ending to-do’s, and reminders. The one method people seem to have adopted to find “quiet” is zoning out in front of the television.
The sad thing is, that isn’t real silence either. Drowning out the noise of our minds with more noise doesn’t equate to silence and peace.
Consider today’s quote. Have you tried finding this sort of “real silence”? Describe the situation. Did you find it to be highly refreshing? Did you fall asleep? Write about the experience in your journal.
Happy Journaling
