Journal Writing Prompt: Trees
“The trees that are slow to grow bear the best fruit.”
~Moliere
I bought a tree this past spring. It sits by my bedside, and reminds me of this very quote. You might be wondering how I could have bought a tree that sits by my bedside (no, I don’t have vaulted ceilings!). I’ll tell you the secret - it’s a bamboo tree. It’s a whopping 9″ tall, and has probably only grown 1 or 2 inches since I bought it more than 6 months ago (and survived a thorough mauling by an irritated border collie).
This tree reminds me, every day that sometimes it takes a long time to bear the best fruit. This tree has an incredible root system already, but, I’ve occassionally looked at it and wondered if it’s actually growing because it’s growing at such a slow rate!
In your journal, think about today’s quote….do you agree? Do you think this is something that you should keep in mind as you go through your day? Or, do you think it’s utter nonsense and of no consequence? Why or why not?
Daily Journal writing prompt bonus: Do you see your life as a tree that is quick to bear fruit or slow to grow and bear fruit? Why or why not? How? - give an example from your life to illustrate your answer.
Happy Journaling!
